4 Post Ideas to Boost Your Followers This Summer

As a small business owner, you understand the power of online marketing — and you’re ready to invest the time it takes to get the most from your social media pages.

But here’s the thing: You can spend hours brainstorming, planning, and creating content for your social media pages. But without the right types of posts, your attempts to reach a wider audience and win over new followers can fall short.

In this blog, I’ve put together four of my favorite post ideas to boost your followers and increasing engagement on your social pages.

So, as we wrap up the summer, take some time to try a few so you can incorporate them into your full-time strategy come fall.

1. Try Instagram Reels

Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently announced that the platform would be moving away from just photo sharing and more toward video — a significant shift that means you’ll have to start creating different kinds of content to keep up with the Instagram algorithm. One easy — and fun — way to do just that is through Reels.

Instagram Reels are short, 15- or 30-second videos that allow users to create entertaining video footage using multiple clips, filters, captions, audio, and more. The more quality Reels you create (this means using trending audio and captivating on-screen text), the more likely you are to boost your reach to new viewers. In fact, we recently created a Reel for a client that got 15K views and 270 likes in one hour. (That’s a lot of eyeballs and engagement!)

2. Host a Giveaway

Everybody loves the chance to snag something free, whether it’s a buy-one-get-one deal or a chance to win a complimentary service from your business. Plus, giveaways are a great way to engage your current audience and organically gain new followers through your signups.

The content can be this simple:

Who’s ready for a chance to win ____? To enter, simply:

  1. Follow my page
  2. Tag a friend in the comments
  3. Share this post in your stories (make sure to tag us @ so we know!)

This simple strategy will drive more people to your page and, ultimately, get more people to follow your business.

3. Share an Intro Post

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again…

People want to learn about your business, but, most importantly, they want to know about YOU.

An easy way to give your audience insight into who you are and get the attention of new followers is to simply share a photo of you and list five things about yourself that they may not know.

Some of these things can be business-related, but some should also be personal. Where did you grow up? How do you like to spend your free time? What’s your favorite thing about your job? Answering these types of questions and introducing yourself to their audience always makes for a great post.

Tip: Don’t forget to give your followers a call to action (CTA) by asking them to share something about themselves in the comments. You may think this is a simple ask, but it’s a great way to spark conversations and get to know your clients better.

4. Tag Your Favorite Businesses

This is one of the easiest ways to gain new followers and one that’s often overlooked!

Out at a favorite restaurant? Snap a photo and share! Trying out a new product from a small business? Give a mini-review in your Stories! Have some go-to places where you regularly buy services for you and your family? Tag them in your posts!

Every time you tag a business, they’re likely to re-share your post to their page, which will most likely turn into more engagement for you. It’s as simple as that!

I understand that growing your social media accounts (especially when you’re just getting started) can seem like a challenge. Still, if you mix up your posting strategy, you can definitely gain more followers!
